the finest artist grade Toy Pianos possible.

Company Profile

This is a photo of the Schoenhut factory ca. 1900.

A self-employed independent craftsman, I have a 1400 sq. ft. wood shop, containing a large array of wood tools and equipment. Here are some views of my workshop. Not shown is the finishing department with spray booth and drying room.

I am a Cabinet Maker and Luthier living and working in Asheville, NC USA. I have been collecting, repairing and building musical instruments for most of my adult life, beginning in the 1970's.

I make several kinds of musical instruments including electric and cigar box violins, and electric and acoustic guitars. I am fascinated with toy pianos and want to make the best ones available in the world

I am a member of the Guild of American Luthiers.

A Word About Words

This class of musical instrument is most often called a Toy Piano. It is also known as a Kinder Klavier, or a Table Top Piano.

TOY PIANO: Most often encountered as a child's toy or development tool, the Toy Piano has a long history and is well loved. Schoenhut is perhaps the largest and best known maker. Other companies making toy pianos include Michelsonne, Jaymar, ELY, and others. Certainly any child would receive hours of joy from playing with a toy piano.

KINDER KLAVIER: This is of course a German phrase for "Child's Piano".  Kinder Klavier

TABLE TOP PIANO: This phrase describes the instrument without classifying it as an instrument for children.
